About Us
Woodrow Wilson High School became Dr. Dolores Silas High School officially on July 1, 2021, after the Tacoma School Board of Directors voted unanimously to rename the 61-year-old school.
Silas High School was built in 1958 and opened a new addition in September 2006, which contains state-of-the-art classrooms and science labs, the library, our business education classes, an expanded Associated Student Body complex, the Career Center, and Guidance and administrative offices. Phase two construction was completed in the fall of 2017. The gymnasium and pool were remodeled. New construction is ongoing for the performing arts and 400/500 wing. A new building houses Culinary Arts, the Autism program, and the Math department. Silas is one of very few high schools in the country with a fully equipped glass blowing hot shop.
