We wrap up Fall Sports this week, with information on state results for Girls Swimming. The remaining Winter sports have begun practices this week and we have their upcoming schedules to share.  

Fall Sports

Swimming (Girls):

Silas Girls Swimming & Diving competed in the 2024 WIAA 3A Girls State Meet last weekend at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way. Our Rams finished 14^th in State out of 34 teams. Here is a partial list of team results:

Individually, the top eight finishers place at State as medalists. Sophomore Izzy Rider led the way for Silas. She finished 5^th in State in the 200 Yard Individual Medley and 6^th in State in the !00 Yard Breaststroke! A medalist in two events is something to truly celebrate!! Way to go Izzy!!

Other highlights include a 10^th place finish in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay and a 12^th place finish by Alexis Esser in the 200 Yard Freestyle!

Here are a couple of parting thoughts:

1. Izzy Rider set not one but two school records this season!

·         She broke the school record in the 200 Yard Individual Medley with a time of 2:10.24.

·         She broke her own record in the 100 Yard Breaststroke from last year. Last year’s record was 1:06.19. She swam a 1:04.43 in the State Prelims, obliterating the old record by 1.76 seconds. That is a gigantic drop.

2. Of the seven swimmers who advanced to the State Meet this year, six are underclassmen. We have one more Freshman who just missed qualifying for State. The future is very, very bright for Silas Girls Swimming!

Winter Sports

Bowling:

Last Thursday (11/14/24), our Rams hosted the Central Kitsap Cougars at Tower Lanes. Our Rams suffered their first loss of the season, losing to the Cougars 1,549 to 1,365.

Highlights from this match include:

·         Silas bowled their best game of year with a 601

·         Junior Eislyn Douthit rolled games of 161 and 144

·         Senior Aurora Garcia rolled a game of 160

Yesterday (11/19/24), our Rams took on the Gig Harbor Tides at Tower Lanes. Gig Harbor was technically the home team for this match. Both schools use Tower lanes as their home venue.

Our Rams had a great day on the lanes, defeating the Tides 1,596 to 1,438.

“The Rams brought in another win after an afternoon of amazing bowling! The team reached a new team high of 677. Aurora Garcia bowled a 210 (personal best) and 176. Katie Keehan bowled a 150. On JV, Liepa Girevicute bowled a personal best of 124 and Ava Cruz bowled a 122.” 

Our Bowlers (2-1) will be participating in a jamboree this afternoon at Tower Lanes. Their next match is Tuesday (11/26/24) when they host the Lincoln Abes at Tower Lanes. The following Tuesday (12/3/24) they travel to Hi-Joy Bowl in Port Orchard to take on the Peninsula Seahawks.

*…the Baker format comprises of a team of bowlers (usually 5), who rotate bowling in each frame in a game. This is much different than a normal team event in which each bowler will bowl for their own individual scores. Other Winter Sports:

The season started for Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Unified Basketball, Boys Swimming and Diving, Boys Wrestling, and Girls Wrestling earlier this week. Competition for these sports start during the first week of December.
