The post-season begins for your Rams when they run in the 2024 Puget Sound League Cross Country Championships at Fort Steilacoom on Saturday, October 26th.

Football:

Last Friday (10/18/24), our Rams hosted the Central Kitsap Cougars at Stadium Bowl. In a game that was much closer than the final score, the Cougars beat our Rams 27 to 7. This was a game marked by lengthy drives from both schools. Central Kitsap got on the board first late in the first quarter. Silas immediately marched down the field on a drive of their own to knot up the score at 7.  As the first half was closing, the Cougars retook the lead with another touchdown to make the score 14 to 7 at half.

Similar to the first half, both teams had long, time consuming drives in the second half. Central Kitsap eventually cashed in on one of their drives to up their lead to 21 to 7. They ultimately sewed up the contest with a late touchdown.

This coming Friday (10/25/24), our Rams (1-6 overall, 0-3 in the PSL) will travel to South Tacoma to take on the Mount Tahoma T-Birds. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM.

Silas is ranked 63rd in the State in the WIAA’s RPI Rankings for 3A Football. Here is the current standings for Football in the  Puget Sound League:

The JV Football Rams (2-4 overall) did not have a game this past week. They will close out their season next Monday (10/28/24) when they host the Mount Tahoma T-Birds here at Silas High School

Last Monday (10/21/24), the C-Team hosted the Central Kitsap Cougars here at Silas High School. They lost to the Cougars 42 to 20. The C-Team Rams (1-1) will close out their season on Monday (11/4/24) when they travel to Lacey to take on the Timberline Blazers at Timberline High School. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 PM.

Soccer (Girls):

Last Thursday, (10/17/24) our Rams hosted the Mount Tahoma T-Birds here at Silas High School. They shut out the T-Birds 10 to 0. Our Rams finished the regular season with an overall record of 5-5-2 and a Puget Sound League record of 4-4-2. They finished in 4th place in the Narrows Division and have qualified for the Puget Sound League Girls Soccer Championships.

Last night (10/22/24), our Rams played the Peninsula Seahawks in the 1st Round of the PSL League Tournament. They lost to the #2 ranked (WIAA RPI Rankings) Seahawks 2 to 1 in a highly competitive match. Coach Zaragoza shares:

“ The team travelled across the bridge to play the Peninsula Seahawks last night. It was a chilly night at Roy Anderson field and at half time the match remained scoreless 0-0.

The Rams battled hard and were able to strike first at the 69th minute of play. The play started with a free kick served from Sophomore Hannah Williams when Sophomore Gracie Cook got the bounce and connected to the back of the net.

The Seahawks responded quickly scoring on a corner kick at the 73rd minute. Then the Seahawks got lucky scoring the winning goal off a corner kick that was deflected off a Ram defender. The Rams lost a close match 1-2.

Shout out to Natalie Medalia who was goalie for the Rams and had 12 saves!”

With the loss first-round loss, Silas falls into the loser’s bracket of the tournament. Tomorrow night (10/24/24), the Rams will travel to Lacey to play the Timberline Blazers in the 2nd round of the Puget Sound League Tournament.

Win or lose, Silas will play a 3rd game next week. This match is scheduled for next Tuesday (10/29/24). The opponent (either the River Ridge Hawks, the Lakes Lancers, or the Bellarmine Prep Lions) will be announced after tomorrow night’s games. Stay tuned for the opponent, location and start time of next week’s match which will be announced after Thursday’s games. To qualify for West Central Districts, our Rams need to win either tomorrow night or next Tuesday,

Here is the 2024 Puget Sound League Girls Soccer Tournament Bracket:

Silas Girls Soccer PSL Tournament Bracket

Swimming (Girls):

Our Silas Girls Swimming continue their winning ways with two strong performances this past week.

Last Thursday (10/17/24), our Rams traveled to Olympia to take on the Capital Cougars at Evergreen State College.  Our Rams swam past the Cougars 133 to 55. A number of Rams achieved all-time personal records in this meet. Coach Cory shares a couple of highlights from the meet:

Abigail Moun got her 100 breast (100 Yard Breaststroke) district time. Molly Calvary got her league time dropping 2 seconds in the 100 free (100 yard Freestyle).

Last Monday (10/21/24) our Rams took on the Gig Harbor Tides at Dick Hannula Pool. Our Rams beat the Tides 107-76. Coach Cory shares:

107-76. Gig Harbor was a bit deeper in the 2/3 places. Their relays were also strong. Izzy Rider swam a state qualifying time in the 200 Yard IM (Individual Medley) and just missed the mark in the 100 breast (100 Yard Breaststroke). Alexis Esser won both the 100 and 200 free (Freestyle). She’s on fire.”

Next up for your Rams is the 2024 Puget Sound League Swimming Championships at Mount Tahoma Pool. The league championship meet is scheduled to start at 4:30 PM, this Friday (10/25/24).
