Silas Jump Start Details
- We will have schedules available on the first day of school AT THE LATEST. We are working on getting them in Synergy as soon as possible, but they may not be ready for Jump Start.
- Our school nurse has health care plans for our incoming freshmen and will be on site both days. If you have questions or concerns to share with her, please contact her at: tnation@tacoma.k12.wa.us
- If your student has an IEP and may need more support in this experience (or if it is not appropriate for him/her/them), please contact Mr. Ferris about your questions, concerns, or thoughts. His email is jferris@tacoma.k12.wa.us.
- If your student is unable to attend, don’t worry! There will be lots of students and adults around to help them find their way in the first few weeks of school.
- Jump Start will not be the time to address athletics or fines and fees. We will send out follow up links for families about where to take care of these tasks before school starts. Most can be done online. There is no need to send money with students for Jump Start.
- Bus transportation for the school year is coordinated through Transportation. Transportation is provided for students within our catchment area. Students who optionally enroll are not provided bus transportation. If you are within Silas’s catchment and need to add a stop for your student, please email our main office secretary Ms. Swaleson with your student’s name and your address: kswales@tacoma.k12.wa.us
- School policies (including dress codes) will be outlined in our student handbook shared with students and families in the first weeks of school. Individual teachers will provide school supply lists at the start of the school year. In high school, classes ask for different tools and supplies from students. We don’t have a generic supply list.
