Middle School Summer Learning

Serving middle school students with limited English skills. This programs helps students live successfully in an English-speaking culture and in a multilingual, multicultural world. Schools will identify and invite students to participate. For more information contact the English Language Learner (ELL) team.

Our Student Services, Special Education, Extended Year program offers individualized lesson plans based on student need.

Dates: July 9-25

Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

Site: Skyline Elementary School

Time: 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Schools will identify and invite students to participate.

Individual programming may be provided at other locations and times.

Club B Summer Academy programs will be available to TPS middle school students this summer. Programs are similar to school-year Club B programs – run by Metro Parks Tacoma in Tacoma’s schools.

Programs run weekly, Monday-Thursday, from July 1 to Aug. 8. (closed July 4 in observation of Independence Day). Families may pick the location that works best for them and must provide their own transportation.

For students finishing grades 6-8, details are: 

• Locations: Hilltop Heritage, Hunt, Mason and Meeker middle schools
• One session per day: 12-4 p.m.
• Cost: $96/week

Search TacomaLearns.org, a directory of youth programs throughout Pierce County for kids in pre-K through 12th grade, to find available activities this summer. Families and students can search by grade level, cost, interest and location. 

This summer, students who just completed kindergarten through eighth grade can use their school-supplied laptops to participate in online learning using iReady at their own pace and from any location.
